for the University of Oxford
Oxford University Careers Service offers advice and guidance to all Oxford students and recent alumni. As well as organising an enormously busy calendar of events and careers fairs, the Service provides drop-in and booked careers discussions and seminars – run by a team of expert Careers Advisers.
Throughout his or her university career, a student is likely to progress through various stages in career planning. Whilst a first year student will be encouraged to explore options and line up work experience placements, a finalist is more likely to be looking for interview practice and recruitment fairs.
A menu of services
These cards were conceived as a means by which to inform students of different categories of the various services most suitable for their needs.
As well as serving as a 'menu' in this way, the cards also transmit a secondary message: the Careers Service is not a 'one size fits all' organisation – different facets of its provision exist for different kinds of student.
The cards are designed to be displayed together – in such a way as to present a rainbow of colour and imagery. We chose a vibrant colour palette and used bold photography (much of it taken by ourselves) to give the cards visual appeal – and kept the messages short, simple and punchy.
